Understanding Adverbs | briefly reviews and builds upon students’ prior knowledge of nouns, verbs, and adjectives. The video compares the relationship of adverbs and verbs to that of adjectives and nouns. The power of the adverb is demonstrated by illustrating how altering the adverb used can change the entire context of a sentence. Visual imagery and voice over combine to provide “think aloud” participatory opportunity for students to be engaged within their learning experience. Emphasis is placed on providing a step by step format for students to locate adverbs within sentences. Students are encouraged to embrace the adverb as a powerful tool to include in their real world speaking and writing. I’ve created an entire series of teaching videos to explain the components of English Language Arts in a way that connects them to each other and to real world reading, speaking, and writing.
