Introducing Compound Words Introducing Compound Words is a video that connects compound words to contractions by emphasizing the point that two words become one in the English language. The video highlights the way compound words can include a combination of different parts of speech to create a new word with an original meaning. Students are exposed to the idea that compound words are longer than other words. Video imagery and voice-over combine to produce a strategy of approaching compound words by looking for smaller words within the larger word when reading. I’ve created an entire series of teaching videos to explain the components of English Language Arts in a way that connects them to each other and to real world reading, speaking, and writing. The links for the videos in order are below. Please look for my other videos and share them with others that may find them helpful.
