English in use: It’s a beautiful day here in central Japan. The sky is blue, there is not a cloud in the sky. I can even hear birds sing. I can hear a car. Today, lets practice the vowels: Aa Ee Ii Oo Uu. We pronounce Aa – apple, angry. We pronounce Ee – elephant, egg. We pronounce Ii – igloo, ink. We pronounce Oo – octopus, ostrich. We pronounce Uu – umbrella, umpire. Let’s practice some example sentences: An angry ant wants some apple pie. Elephants don’t eat eggs. The igloo was covered in ink. Octopuses like ostriches, but ostriches don’t like octopuses. That umpire is using an upside down umbrella.
