We will talk about important vocabulary: groceries, aisle, cashier, shopping cart, basket, coupons, bakery, deli, dairy, produce, check out, paper or plastic, express lane, payment. We will talk about partitives – a loaf of bread, a box of spaghetti, a bunch of bananas and more. we will talk about prices and measurements – pt. = pint, qt. = quart, gal. = gallon, lb. = pound. 5 lb. bag for $2.99. oranges for $.59 lb. $2 each. $1.59 per pound. 2 for $3. We will practice these examples and Mark will ask you to make some sentences on your own. We will talk about collocations for ‘accident’ – bad, dreadful, horrible, horrific, major, nasty, serious, terrible, tragic, unfortunate, fatal – minor, slight, small – industrial, nuclear, auto, car, traffic We will practice Modal Verbs – can / can’t + base form of verb. Example – Can you play baseball? I can’t play the piano. We will discuss English Tense – Simple Present: Form / affirmative / negative / interrogative We will also talk about how we are feeling today and some recent polls you took during the week: Which of these is more difficult to pronounce? – What’s your favorite season?
